Northern Lights

Bob and I finally got our photo from the owner of the Lodge we were staying at in Fairbanks. He has a very specific technique for capturing the Northern Lights and people's faces. As you can imagine, it's pitch black outside and you cannot use a flash. If you use a flash, the aperture on the camera won't be open long enough to capture the Norther Lights. So, he left the aperture open for 10-12 seconds and shined a hand held flash light on our faces for about 1-2 seconds and the photo turned out better than we could have hoped for.
