a laborious weekend

We played 4 gigs this weekend! It was fantastic and I wish we were that busy all of the time. The highlight of our long weekend had to be our trip to Bellaire, MI to play at Shorts Brewery, which is becoming more well known everyday. Their beer is now served in practically every Detroit bar. They are super supportive of live music and we had a frickin blast playing the show. Our friend Dan also joined us on the trip and a host of Mervak's, including Bob's nephews, also came out to the show.

I thought a lot about the unions that allowed us so many things we think of as normal these days, such as- weekends, minimum wage, sick days, child labor laws and safe workplaces. Anyone who is anti-union should think about these benefits that we all have that are taken for granted and that exist only to the thanks of labor unions. Yesterday, on American Labor Day, three striking South African Platinum Miners were shot with rubber bullets by security guards. The Miners are on strike in hopes of receiving fair wages. Just a few weeks ago, 34 South African Miners were shot and killed by police. It really makes me appreciate the laws and benefits that we have thanks to American unions.

Hope you all enjoyed your Federal Holiday!
