We went kayaking! 

This summer, I was lucky enough to visit two of Michigan's marvelous lakes! Bob had a mini-tour with a Jazz Quartet out in western MI and my sister, Ceila and I drove out with a girlfriend to hang with the guys on the beach. Manistee, MI is such a little gem! The beach wasn't packed, the water was completely clear and surprisingly warm. If you are looking for a great western MI beach to visit, Manistee is now at the top of my list. Also, the little lake town is adorable, filled with antiques shops, sandwich and coffee shops and endless fruits/veggie stands.

Torch Lake has become an annual trip for Bob and I. It is seriously one of the most gorgeous lakes in the world! We usually stay in a B&B in Bellaire, which is one of the lake towns. There is a fantastic MI microbrewery in Belliaire called Shorts. Great food, live music and of course, beer. My only regret is going over 4th of July weekend. It was so busy and crazy. Lesson learned, go on a totally random weekend if you are looking for some peace and quiet!
