I've always thought Annie Lennox was bad ass, but when I heard her rendition of this song, I was so impressed! Her voice is so strong throughout the entire song and I feel as though the way she chooses to phrase things brings new meaning to the classic midnight mass hymn. I also thought it was brilliant to create a Middle East type sound in the rhythm section, seeing as that's where Jesus was born.
The video is done so well! It's like she's living in a vintage and eerie Christmas card from the 30's. Can you tell I'm a little obsessed? So far, this has been my favorite new Christmas song this season. I did just buy "It's a She & Him Christmas", so things could always change, but for now, Annie is on repeat.
